Going on an adventure!

You're Going on an Adventure

Actually, you're returning from one...
You don't need your character sheets for now, just sort of go with it, we'll sort out all the technicalities a little later on.

Again you found yourself face to face with the foul fiend, but he is quick witted and powerful. You may have foiled his plan to use these Chaos Crystals for the time being, but he is sure to return. The Gnomes of this city know the most about them, as their captor forced them to study every aspect of them. The crystals are highly unstable, but with the aid of magic- of which many a Gnomic kin are accustomed in these realms- they find a relatively safe method to handle them. They decide the best thing to do is to find a way to destroy these crystals, for they cannot be used for any purpose of good. You are sworn to secrecy on the matter of the Chaos Crystals- unless the knowledge of these such artefacts will save the lives of those in danger of a result of the artefacts themselves.

You have spent much time in this mining town, recovering and attending meetings regarding the proceeds for the safe disposal of the crystals. The Gnomes and their alliances, (Dwarven Leaders of Bordorock from the Northern Mountains and High Elven Elders of Galderome included) yet, despite your rest, those of Elven blood grow weary and weaker by the day, suffering agonising headaches and trances filled with darkness and torment- the Galderomanic Elders are also affected, and they conclude such sickness comes from the evil of the crystals. As such, you decide to retire further East.

It is a dark morning and the clouds threaten heavy rain to come. Wizard Isaac's House is 4 days by foot/2 day by mount by means of the road. You estimate that you may make it there in 2 days by foot if you cut through the forest. Unfortunately, gnomes do not ride horses, they're simply not size compatible, they do, however, have a few ponies they would be willing to sell you. There is a general goods stall at the market, although they are low and limited in stock due to recent events and as such, prices are higher (x3). There is also an Alchemists shop, who shall give you a discount for saving his life. The town has 12 ponies used in the pits, though they are blind to the light, they are stronger than most, and they shall sell them at 25gp.

  • Trail Rations: 15sp per days worth, 1lb, 11 in stock
  • Oil: 3sp, 1lb, 6 pints in stock
  • Lantern, hooded: 21gp, 2lb, 1 in stock
  • Fire Wood: 3cp per days worth, 9 days worth in stock
  • Tent: 30gp, 20lb, sleeps 2, only 1 in stock
  • Hempen Rope: 3gp 50ft, 10lb, 1 in stock
  • Flask, empty: 9cp, 1 pint capasity, 1 1/2lb 8 in stock
  • Vial, empty: 3gp, 1/10lb, 17 in stock
  • Acid (in flask): 7gp, 1lb
  • Alchemists Fire (in flask): 15gp, 1lb
  • Antitoxin: 30gp, na/lb
  • Holy Water (in flask): 17gp, 1lb
  • Smokestick: 15gp, 1/2lb
  • Sunrod: 1gp, 1lb
  • Thunderstone: 20gp, 4lb
  • Tinderswig: 7sp, na/lb
  • Pit Pony: 25gp, 6 for sale

You are (mostly) all RIDICULOUSLY encumbered with your loads, and should be travelling at half your speed (Ehem, short-arsed Derek with chain mail and at least two heavy axes, yes?) but I am willing to let that slip for the time being if you buy a pony to carry the extra load so you can travel as forecast above until you reach Isaac's humble abode. Also the NPCs are all laughing at anyone lugging around a 10ft pole with them and, unless you have a bag of holding, you will suffer the consequences for carrying such a silly burden- you have been warned. You are trusted to keep account of your own finances and equipment for the time being, feel free to buy any of the items above to add to your equipment (but please make a note in the comments), and you may sell weapons and armour to the Dwarves for 2/3 price of the original value. You may also sell any of your Adventuring Gear to the Gnomic stall owner for full price.

How will you proceed? Discuss with your fellow adventurers below!

So... hi!

Seeing as everyone else is posting, I probably should too.

What's happened since I last saw you all? Well, everyone moved into the new house, which is kinda lame because I enjoyed living on my own. Though it is a lot cheaper this way, I guess. We seem to be getting on fine apart from there always seems to be washing up in the sink. -sigh-

I got some bad news from the doctor. I apparently have the hearing of a 40 year old and it's going to get worse. Yay. Hopefully not quickly though so maybe hearing aids will be better by the time I need one.

On to better news! Uni is good so far. We've started anatomy class so we dissect cadavers every week. We also have to write lab reports every week (laaaaame) but the lectures are interesting. I'm even staying awake!

I joined the Assassins, which I intended to do last year but I never got round to it. I don't think I'll take part in many games because of my crappy bones, but I had fun at the social and met some cool people so I'll go to the weekly meets.

I'm gonna dump some art here. Not drawn much (as usual) but seeing as I put some art on here ages ago I might as well put some more recent stuff up.

That's my fantroll, a friend's fantroll as part of an art trade, and one of Bevan's OCs in a VERY unfinished painting (it's like a third done, I need to make everything more detailed and less plastic!)

I know you guys have seen most of these but we must think of our devoted fan base! (...is that guy from Germany still following us?)

I'm going to draw more this year no matter how hard the course is. Last year I didn't and well... bad things happened to my brain. I might as well be more honest. My therapist says to make time for myself so this year I will ^_^

Er... I think that's it.

Mina out.

P.S. I ate too much bruschetta and now everything hurts :L

BAKER'S BACK, BABY!

I haven't posted on this blog since March. Time flies, huh? XD

So, what have I been up to these last few weeks since returning to the 'pool? Short answer: Nothing. Long answer: Absolutely nothing. Basically, my life at University in Year 2 hasn't been that much different from my life at University in Year 1. Lectures still be making me sleep, labs still be a lot of writing up, and the Physics still be complex (but this year it's getting interesting, we do Electromagnetism an' Particle Physics 8D *ooh, ahh, is all sparkly glowy!*).

Saying that, the major difference everyone is noticing is the number of people on the course this year. Or rather, the lack of a number of people on the course this year. Last year's 300 (Leggett, feel free to insert a Leonidas reference here =P) has been drastically culled to about 150 from people failing exams, deciding to leave or being sacrificed to Cthulhu. Except the last one. Having come close to redoing a year with my own resits a few months ago, it's sobering to know how few people actually made the list.

On the more positive side, everyone has moved into the new house for this year pretty easily. The era of Halls is behind us, and we have entered the Year of the Student Digs! No more rules and regulations about when and how we have to clean the living room. No more wakeups at 3 in the morning when some drunk Fresher pulls the fire alarm. No more Residential Advisors to help out when the kitchen goes up in flame.

And it's fantastic. The house itself is 10 minutes away from campus, and most of that time is having to cross a dual carriageway. It's a bit small, but that just means there's less that can go wrong. I have the small, used-to-be-a-broom-cupboard room at the back, which is perfect for me as there's not as much to clean as the other bedrooms, and other than not being able to get a chair under the writing desk, the place couldn't be better. Hooray for having a place to sleep! =D

Aaaand, I think that's everything. If I keep to the same schedule for posting on here, I'll be writing the next post in May 2014, so see you guys then XD

Just to be clear, the kitchen hasn't burned to the ground.
Yet.

Here's hoping ;P

Jasmin Answers Questions

I never did do the questionnaire thingie, so here we go. And by the way, I'm using HTML to write this, just because it's actually easier than arguing with the formatting functions (or there lack of) on the composition interface.

The Questionnaire Thingie

What is your favourite word?
Fun word to say: Blob. It feels like it's falling out of your mouth as you say it.
Most inspirational word: Gothic. It whispers all kinds of images and settings, from Burton-esque characters to grand medieval architecture. It creates a mysterious, fog-veiled realm of Victorian adventure for me.

What is your least favourite word?
Rape. Just thinking the word makes me want to punch something.

What turns you on, creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
I think (instrumental) music has to be the most inspirational thing to get me going on a project. Sometimes I will sit and listed to music with my eves closed, studying every note, letting it carry me off to a far away place and paint pictures in my mind.

What turns you off?
Depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Nothing kills creativity, passion or the general ability to function as a normal human being like any of those.

What is your favourite curse word?
Crap. It sort of gets the message across without really being too offensive.

What sound or noise do you love?
The sound of pencil scratching away on paper. It's usually a good sign that I'm being productive.

What sound or noise do you hate?
Nails scratching denim. Goes through me- I mean, you can't even itch a scratch through denim anyway.

What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt?
I wouldn't mind giving Piracy a go. Not that modern malarkey, I mean old school piracy, with a tricorn and galleon and swashbuckling.

What profession would you not like to do?
Anything that involves my soul being eternally bound to a desk, pen-pushing or such likes.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
The ball pool is over there.

Nerf Guns, Maths Tests and Troll Physics

Yo mah homies =P

Just finished the first week of uni which has been really weird getting back into a routine and trying to write again and instead creating a piece of modern art all over the page.

Le Monday
First actual lecture. It was fantastic to see troll physics on the first page of the powerpoint XD. I had one of those moments where in my head i was all like "OMG IMMA LEARN SOME SHIT AND BE PROFESSIONAL AND BE ABLE TO TO THINGS WITH OTHER THINGS" but I was actually more like =). However I was wrong... we did suvat which (for us is now called kinematics) and their derivatives, only doing 1 new thing which was putting it into vector form. The next lecture was the REAL first lecture for the Our Evolving Universe module which was basically a blast of stuff about stars and things and it was then when I thought holy shit this is gonna be hard... We had an intro talk... yet another talk on how to university. PLZ HALP I FORGOTTED HOW TO UNI! D=

Ze Tuesday
9:00 Surprise maths test... I've not mentioned yet that I have freshers flu and I'm more dribbly than porous mug. It wasn't too difficult since it was A-Level stuff... after that was another Our Evolving Universe lecture which I could've done without in my diseased state.

DRUM SOLO!

SHUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA

Las Wednesday
The best day of the week. 1 lecture and that's it... except for today when we had ANOTHER halp-how-uni-I-do? session... Was gonna go to NoDDSoc but was still too dribbly.

Das Thursday
The massive day... 4 lectures with 1 hour break for lunch. Physics lecture in the morning and the lecturer is stupidly fast... as in if you write something down, taking your eyes away for 5 seconds you've missed half the board's worth of stuff. We had another maths lecture with the same guy who gave the test on Tuesday (who is the most awesome guy ever) and he said "Have you had a lecture from Dr Boothe?.. Did shit get real?" and he was right... shit did get real with finding the equation for the electric field strength and its force at any distance x from a conductive metal rod (as the y axis) of length L at angle theta to the horizontal... yeah...
I also got drenched with rain going to HMV, hoping it wasn't going to get any worse... which it did. That night it was CARD GAEMZ and played yugioh till 11 at night XD

Los Friday
Imma have labs on fridays as of next week but was pretty boring today... one lecture on how some of the letters of suvat are changing to make it physics-y-er (which he was demonstrating parabola's with nerf guns. I cannot say how funny that lecture was) and basic pulley systems... That was more boring than Friends but still had more entertainment value.

I also have no voice due to freshers flu which is the cause of great hilarity...
